“SHALL WE DANCE” STUDENT SHOWCASE and AWARDS DINNER – Saturday, February 23^rd at the Durango Studio we featured over 100 Student Dance Routines for this Showcase! All of our instructors choreographed special routines for each student to showcase their individual talents. Following the Showcase was our AWARDS DINNER and DANCE. VICKI VENKA, our visiting adjudicator presented Student Awards for Top Categories. The Award recipients were: Top Junior Female; Jaleigh Harris, Top Teen Male; Connor Gibbs, Top Teen Female; Kayla Miller, Top Newcomer Male; Tac Tang, Top Newcomer Female; Neveen Shlayan, 2^nd Newcomer Male; Dr. Aragon Romaldo, 2^nd Newcomer Female; Linda Laughlin, Top Associate Bronze Male; Lance Spindler, Top Associate Bronze Female; Cynthia Kestler and Lori James; 2^nd Associate Bronze Male; Chad Peterson, 2^nd Associate Bronze Female; Lorena Singer, Top Amateur Couple; Tyson and Starcie Green, Top Advanced Amateur Couple; Alex and Tanya Jancovic, Top Bronze Male; Bob Bransky, Top Bronze Female; Lisa Evans, 2^nd Bronze Female; Brandy Hartman, Top Silver Female; Denise Giancola, Top Gold Male and Above; Ray Haldeman, Top Gold Female and Above; Louise Totten, Most Original Routine; Connor Gibbs, Most Original Costume; Lance Spindler, Best Actress; Joyce Chen, Best Actor; Dr. Aragon Romaldo, High Male Score; Connor Gibbs, High Female Score; Kayla Miller. Top Instructors which is based strictly off of the scores of their students.  The teachers are not being judged by their own ability, but on the progress of their students. Justin McClendon, Adam Stuckey and Trent McAffee. Our Teachers presented a Special Dance Formation choreographed by Freddy Vera to wrap up the event which was a great success.  Special thanks to our Showcase Videographer, Ryan Duff. On Sunday afternoon students who entered the Showcase celebrated with Brunch followed by a Group Bolero Class conducted by Vicki Venka. Individual Student Critiques were also held on Sunday afternoon.  Critiques provide the Students and their Teachers the opportunity to review their achievements and dance routines with Vicki.  

“MADS CLUB”, Murray After Dark Social Club is an Out on the Town Evening with your Teachers and Friends.  It is held the first Wednesday of every month at 9:30pm at a designated local Lounge location. Ask your Teachers how to join  MADS Club and get ready to dance the night away.  Last month we danced in the “EYECANDY” Center Lounge located at Mandalay Bay. MADS club this month will be Wednesday, March 5^th at Mandalay Bay. 

*** ST. PATRICK’S DAY – 9:00 PM “STUDENT NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN PARTY!”, Monday, March 17^th 9:00PM at Mandalay Bay “EYECANDY” Center Bar.  There will be No Party at Durango.  This will be the Monday Night Party Extravaganda Event.***

DANCING WITH THE LAS VEGAS STARS FINALE!!!!!!, The results are in.  Join us at the Durango Studio on March 7^th @ 8:15 PM for the finale.  Lisa Evans and Brandy Hartman are our finalists. Lisa will be dancing with Trent McAffee and Brandy will be dancing with Justin McClendon.  Bring your friends and come and vote for your favorite couple!  ***POPULAR VOTE COUNTS 50%***.  Season 2 began in our studios Friday, January 18^th.  Seven Bronze 3 and 4 students from both Studios were featured dancing with their teachers in a competition each Friday night.  Every Monday at the Durango Practice Party we announced the Results and eliminated one couple.  The winner and runner up of Season 1; Lesley Pena and Kelly Nelson received tickets to see the live show of DANCING WITH THE STARS in Hollywood, California.   Season 2 Dancers: Lindsay Dunlap and Adam Stuckey, Lisa Evans and Trent McAffee, Brandy Hartman and Justin McClendon, Lexi Hamill and Jonathan Green, Chris Sutton and Diamahn White, Juan Chavarin and Nova Holly, Jim Frasure and Valerie Green.  Special thanks to our Adjudicators: Tim Homerding, Louise Totten, Ray Haldeman and Denise Giancola and Visiting Adjuciators: Holly Udy and Vicki Venka. 

GROUP CLASSES – WEST – M-F 6:45pm – Our Group Classes are fantastic! Come and join Xiaoqian, aka “JC” Wiltshire, our Dance Director at the Durango location.  Monday through Friday she conducts a group class on one particular dance of the week.  Class begins at 6:45pm.  Saturday at 12:15, Greg conducts a “Technique” Group Class on the same weekly dance.  Check the Calendar for the weekly dances. This Month: Waltz, Swing, Hustle/Merengue, Tango and Samba. 

GROUP CLASSES – EAST – M-F 7:30pm – Come and join Adam Stuckey, our Dance Director at the Maryland Parkway location

Monday through Friday he conducts a group class on a different dance every day.  Saturday at 1:00pm there is an additional class. Check the Calendar for specific classes. Every Month there is Social Salsa on Wednesdays.  This Month:  Samba, Foxtrot, Rumba, Hustle, Waltz, Bachata, V. Waltz, 2 Step, W.C. Swing, Polka, Swing, Tango, Merengue, Tango, ChaCha, Peabody, Quickstep, C.W. Triple Step, Mambo and Bolero.      Please Note: Saturday, March 29^th  there will be group NO CLASSES due to DANCE-O-RAMA. 

ARGENTINE TANGO MILONGAS & TANGO WORKSHOPS.  Ven a Bailar el “Tango del Corazon” or shall we say  “Come Dance the “Tango of the Heart”.  Hugo Latorre & Miriam Gittelman are from Argentina.  They have been hosting Argentine Tango Milongas (Dance parties) at our Durango studio on the third Saturday of every month at 9:30PM. Their weekly Workshop is on Thursday evenings at 8:15pm at the Durango Studio. Tom & Tanya Smith are also hosting Milongas at the Maryland Parkway Studio on specified Saturday evenings at 10:00PM. This month, March 1^st and 22^nd. Check the Calendar each month for dates. This is a great introduction to one of the most romantic dances.  All events are $15.00.
